Bigtoe is very pleased to announce that after many ups and downs his debut album is nearly finished and soon to be released. Oh yes. Expect folk-psyche-noise-schwemd activity.

It will feature the tracks 'DIRECT SALES' which was played on Radio 3's 'Mixing It' and 'THE WISHING TREE', a track that was included on the Big Chill album 'Busking for Solar Aid'.

In addition there will be never before heard material, unrealeased demos and new material recorded, produced and mastered by Bigtoe.

Singles will be released (TBA) FREE VIA SOUNDCLOUD (http://soundcloud.com/bigtoe) and then the album will be available to buy through online distribution at Itunes and amazon. Shortly.

Just so you know, I've got some gigs in the pipeline that are looking quite exiting. I've been rehearsing with the great and talented GEORGE LAZENBLEEP for a gig at the big chill bar, brick lane, London Nov 28th 3-7pm. Should be a blinder by the sound of things so far (see pic of GL tweaking his gizmo's in our rehearsal space-tres bien n'est pas?)and it's promoting the SOLAR AID charity AND the release of the SOLAR AID ALBUM which my new track 'The Wishing Tree' will be on...

....

If that wasn't enough I've been picked for a compilation Curated by the great son of Yeovil, John Parish (PJ Harvey et al...) which is very cool indeed. Gig coming up to promote the release of that on Sat 14th Nov, somewhere in Taunton, tbc... All very exiting.

....

I'm also doing my usual slot on Phonic Fm this sunday 1st Nov (and every first sunday in the month) 4-6, 106.8fm or online at www.phonic.fm. Going for an easy listening vibe I think with a bit of John Fahey, Jarvis Cocker and Levitation throw in in for good measure.

To top it all I'm playing tomorrow at the Hourglass in Exeter do an improvised set of Halloween stylings, soundtrack weirdness and noise terror with the inspirational Birds Orphans and Fools gentlefolk.

I'm also hoping to eat and sleep...

Playing at the big chill in a couple of weeks

Me again. Been a while hasn't it? Well it's ok I'm here now. AND have I got some scintillating news? I'm playing at the Big Chill festival (6-9th August http://www.bigchill.net/festival) on the BUSKERS STAGE). Should be doing a slot on Friday night and possibly on saturday in the day too. Haven't decided whether to go all out drone-a-saurus, laptop, guitar FX special or keep it organic. Working on the setlist now. Quite a few new'us in there, even a couple which could be described as 'life-affirming', which is a novelty. See you there?

Bigtoe scores at FILM4 FRIGHTFEST!

Bigtoe have scored music for the short film 'SMILE' which is part of the cult director Norman J Warren's short film showcase entitled, 'HORRORSHOW'. Its being screened on Monday 25th August at 1:20pm at the ODEON LEICESTER SQUARE

In addition to the soundtrack, Bigtoe also provided the darkly comical music for the to-camera links featuring Norman J Warren himself; cult horror director famous for 'Inseminoid' and 'Bloody New Year'. Fans of gore, schlock horror and genral weirdness should not miss this opportunity:

For Love and Coffee Score Completed

Bigtoe have just completed a score for the Screen Yorkshire funded short, 'For Love and Coffee' directed by Steven Carr. It's a modern take on the silent movie; the boy, girl and adversary thing. It's a beautifully shot and humorous film due for release as part of the Film Councils MOViES scheme.

The score is a shmogasbord of movie music including Ennio moments, clunky piano and touch of 'Punch Drunk Love'. There's also a broken guitar which sounds lovely. Watch this space for screenings in the future...

'Walthamstow' gets nominated for Best Documentary at Soho Short Film Festival!

Bigtoe Radio on air June 8th 4-6pm Phonic fm 106.8

Bigtoe are very exited to announce that we will be taking over the airwaves on Exeter's very own Phonic Fm. If you're into weird and wonderful juxtapositions of music, spoken word, arty-fartyness, philosophy and the occasional dose of Northern Soul then you should do yourself a favor and tune in to 106.8 if you can or listen online at www.phonic.fm. A bit like Mark Lemar's Alternative 60's meets 'Late Junction' meets 'Mixing It' with a Bataille inspired 'Documents' ethos holding it all untogether.

Lots of: soul/northern, psyche, 60's treats, film music, field recordings, spoken word, electronica, misunderstood classics and up-and-coming new artists.

Below you can check out a clip from 'Nepal: Journeys Across the Roof of the World' which was featured at this years MIPCOM screen at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL. It's also doing the rounds on the NAT GEO channel and on various networks in Europe and Asia...

The clip is a beautiful but slightly harrowing look at burial rituals in Katmandu. The score is all original Bigtoe Media music. Hope you like it and be aware that some viewers may find this clip disturbing...

Keep your eyes and ears peeled as its looking hopeful that BIGTOE might be picking up a slot or two on Exeter's very own cutting edge radio station PHONIC FM which has recently gone on air. Should be playing a mix similar to the kind of stuff you've heard me play at PEOPLE ON SUNDAY with the BIRDS, ORPHANS and FOOLS crowd. But moreso. Am determined to play The Monkees and Stokhausen next to each other for the sheer bloody-minded pretensiousness of it.

But seriously, if you're a fan of Mark Lamar's 'Alternative 60's' show, 'Late Junction' or 'Mixing It' chances are you'll find something to enjoy.

So keep checking the blog, as soon as the dates are confirmed I'll post with impunity. Exiting isn't it?

9th March at THE VOODOO LOUNGE, PHOENIX, EXETER: BIGTOE is DJ'ing a mixture of alternative 60's, Disney, Northern Soul, and BeatBoom classics in the bar. In the main room, non other than Mr Twisted Nerve ANDY VOTEL himself AND those crazy kids from BIRDS, ORPHANS and FOOLS. Crumbs!

15th March PHOENIX EXETER: BIGTOE will be making a rare appearance with George Lazenbleep and BoxBeat Paul as part of the famous VIBRAPHONIC festival shebang. Could be covers, new material, oldies and some strange noises. No squids.

Bigtoe are getting 2008 off to a flying start with another realease on Bathysphere Records, a double A-side vinyl only version of 'Bread Pudding' produced by those sonorific wizards ASMO and SOFALOFA.
